CHAPTER 28: The Incredible Feat
Ravichandran looked at Rajaveera who gestured by shaking his head slightly indicating that Aryaman’s wish should be granted! Quite reluctantly, Ravichandran finally gave in.
The flying hero thanked the King and then joined his palms before the gigantic gate. He closed his eyes for a few moments and then bent down. He then lifted the gate with remarkable ease and flew in the sky with it. All those present looked at this scene baffled.
“Where is he taking it?” Ravichandran yelled.
“I shall try to find out!” So saying, Rajaveera too took to the skies.
Flying in great speed, Aryaman reached the Amalanagar river and landed on the shore. He slowly kept the gate down which completely covered a portion of the lake like a bridge. It was so huge that it extended far beyond the other end of the river.
Aryaman felt happy but was not satisfied. The ends of the gate were left unguarded and thus there was always the danger of people falling off in the water. He invoked his divine silver bow and held it in his hand.
Lifting himself a few inches from the ground Aryaman now stood right on top of the edges of the gate in mid-air. He closed his eyes, murmured a prayer and an arrow made its presence in his hand!
Taking aim he shot off the arrow which pierced at a portion of the edge of the gate and stood its ground. He then let off another arrow that impaled the round end tip of the earlier one and stood on top of it!
The caped hero formed a chain of ten arrows that stood one above the other. He then landed and gave a hard push at the arrows. Given his enormous strength, the arrows should have broken and fell into the water.
What actually happened was that they did not budge from their position! Aryaman smiled and formed another chain of ten arrows just beside the previous chain. He continued to perform this incredulous action right till the end of the lake.
What he had done was to create a wall of impregnable arrows at one end of the huge gate. He performed this feat of marvel at the other end of the gate as well. The bridge was complete!
Aryaman invoked a divine arrow, which shone brilliantly at its sharp edges. Taking aim, he shot it at a portion of the gate that was resting on the shore.
The arrow resulted in the surfacing of a crack at the spot where the weapon struck which gradually expanded in a horizontal line on either sides! Within moments, the crack grew wider which finally split the door in two halves! The divine astra then magically disappeared.
Lifting the broken part of the door Aryaman flew to the nearby hill, which could have been used by the children to reach Vedanand’s ashram if not for the deep ravine at its center. He placed the broken structure on top of the ravine, which much to his relief, extended a little beyond the end of the chasm thereby forming yet another bridge!
Once again, Aryaman secured the open ends of the gate with his chain of arrows and it was only then that he felt satisfied.
The children could reach their guruji’s abode well on time through these couple of bridges without his support! It was a fact that climbing on this hill was a tad risky but the fact remained that it was not very steep and some precaution on the part of the children would ensure their safety.
Closing his eyes, Aryaman thanked the Lord for enabling him do this. He then flew away in the sky.
